Request Indigenous Lived Experience Expertise

Our Centre is committed to providing culturally safe and impactful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lived experience voices to shape mental health and suicide prevention initiatives. If your project, event, or initiative requires the expertise of lived experience advocates, we invite you to submit a request.

Our team will work with you to assess and guide your readiness for best practice engagement, and match your needs with suitable advocates for meaningful collaboration.

Here are some examples of requests you might have when wanting to engage our expertise.

Considerations for Organisation Readiness

To ensure the success of your project, it’s important to reflect on the following key considerations before submitting a request for lived experience expertise. By meeting these considerations, you demonstrate respect for Indigenous lived experience.

Key Considerations

1. Adequate Remuneration and Resourcing

2. Safety of Participants

3. Recognition and Respect for Expertise

4. Organisational Indicators for Safety

Submit a Request

We welcome your request for Indigenous lived experience expertise. Please ensure that you have addressed the above considerations before submitting. Once submitted, our team will review your request and get in touch with you to discuss the next steps.

In cases where a request does not meet our standards, we will provide feedback and recommendations on steps to improve cultural awareness and safety.

Acknowledgement

We acknowledge all Traditional Custodians of this vast and diverse continent now known as ‘Australia’. We honour the Ancestors, Elders, and Knowledge Holders who have cared for Country, its ecosystems, waterways, skies, and cosmos since the beginning of time. Their connection to Country is sovereign and enduring, and will forever remain unchanged by the impacts of colonisation.

We want to acknowledge First Nations Lived Experience. For First Nations Peoples, experiences of living have been passed down for thousands and thousands of years. It is how we survive, thrive, care for each other and Country. Our experiences are the foundation of relationships, of knowledge, that we carry in our Spirit. We acknowledge all lived experiences of First Nations Peoples that are brought to this work, and recognise the power and impact these experiences have on creating meaningful and impactful change for our Communities.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.
